FAQ about Islam
- What is Islam?
- Who are Muslims?
- Who is Allah?Allah, which comes from the phrase Al-Ilah, Al being the definite article “The” while Ilah means “god” or that which you adore or worship. Thus Allah means “The God” who is the Only One worthy of worship who is neither male nor female and it cannot be made into plural. Allah is also the word for God that is used in all the Arabic, Malay and Indonesian translations of the Bible, so it is referring to the same God of the Christians and that of the Jews. Please visit www.AllahintheBible.com for more information.
- Who is Muhammad?Muhammad was chosen by Allah to deliver the message of Islam like the prophets of the past including Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Ishmael, Moses and Jesus for the guidance for their respective peoples. As such, Muhammad cannot be considered the "founder" of Islam since Islam was the same divine guidance sent to all peoples in the past through different prophets of God. Every prophet was sent to his own people however Muhammad was sent to all humankind being the last and final messenger sent to deliver the message of Islam. Muslims revere and honour him for his struggles and dedication, but they do not worship him. Muhammad was the perfect role model for all time and for all peoples in order to get closer to God.
- What is the Qur'an?Just as Allah revealed the Torah, the Psalms and the Gospel to His prophets in the same way He revealed the Quran to Muhammad. For this reason Muslims believe in all the previous books sent by God. Quran means “the recitation” and was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad over a period of 23 years. It is a book of guidance and the literal word of God. The Quran was sent by God to guide humanity to come closer to Him through submission and obedience.
- What do Muslims believe about Jesus?Muslims believe that Jesus the son of Mary is the Word of God, one of the greatest prophets and messengers sent by God, that he was born of a virgin, that he was the promised Messiah, that he performed many miracles with God's permission and Muslims await his second-coming.Please visit www.welovejesustoo.com for more information.
